The “Raccolta” art project

Attention is the rarest and purest form of generosity …

Simone Weil, letter to Joë Bousquet, 1942

In the art project ‘Raccolta’ (Harvest), I invite you to share an experience and a glance (“uno sguardo”) by means of a simple gesture (“gesto”): collect some seeds and send them to me (see participation form).

Art installation

“1. Originally, the word CELL referred to a small room, a small chamber. Over time, it came to refer first to each small space that forms a larger space, then to each small element of a larger structure. 2. The spread of the word comes from its scientific use in biology, where it refers to the smallest element that forms living organisms, animals and plants. 3) Thanks to education and the popularisation of science, the term has moved from biology into everyday language, to refer to a small element that functions independently and forms a larger entity.” (Source: Dizionario Treccani, translated into English)

Your bags of seeds will become cells that I will combine, during exhibitions, next to each other, and their position will always be different, as well as the space they will occupy.
